REFLECTION FROM MID TERM SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY (USSP 22)

Hi.

 FIRST S.PSYC PAPER !

This is my first time sitting for paper social psychology examination. The exam was held in old library on last week of Thursday 27th August. Frankly speaking, it’s quite hard for me because I need to memorize many terms that have almost similar meaning toward each other. I am the person that interested more on graphical and numbers thus memorizing thing is my weakness. This subject would be challenging for me but I have to overcome this problem as psychology is my major. Comparing myself from the past, I think I have changed a lot whereas I could read more book than before because most of my taken subjects are sufficient me to read. Reflecting on my marks, I felt kind of disappointed because I couldn’t score much in the paper. I think it is important for a student to really understand the question before answer it. Because of misunderstood about the question I couldn’t score for section B.

However, I would say that it brings satisfied for me because I learnt more about application in social psychology where it somehow help me to remember without memorize the term. For example method of field study is carried out by Hofling experiment and Stamford Prison experiment. We did the experiment live in the class to see how the experiment was carried out by having detail about the experiment such as hypothesis, theory and its procedure. For the next chapter, we relate the materials we learnt with our selected movies. We not only can learn new chapter of self but also we can watch movies together. Having fun learning is one of the ways to keep student focus in the class while it can release their stress.

PSYCHOLOGY IS A FUNDAMENTAL

The moment I received my paper, I felt, “Wauuuuuuuuuuu!!”. It is not because I got full mark but because I got five wrong in Section A which is Objective Section. Do you know how precious 1 mark is to us especially ADFP/ACTP students. but I realise that the questions that I got wrong were the questions that really make me confuse on the exam day. Luck is not on me. (Always) because the answer that I guessed was wrong! I don’t ask other people mark as it will make me in pain if I know all of them get the highest mark. But when Miss Hanis gave briefing how to write our mark in the front page, she said while looking at one of my friend paper, “ Let say you get 23, write 23 and do not add any extra mark yet”. At that moment I realized that there was a people who nearly scored 25/25. For me extra that three marks can differentiate what grade are you in.

Nothing I could say about the objective section. However, when we discussed about the section A, I just wondering why Miss Hanis did not marking the question 2 which carry 6 marks. I though everyone got the full mark and that is why she is not marking but actually majority of us misunderstood the questions. For Miss Hanis, most of us not answering like what the question asked. Hhhhhhhhmmmm. But after the argument where most of us think that the question about the route to the mental health can be positive and negative and Miss Hanis agreed to recheck it back. How grateful I am at that time and I bet most of us are grateful J. Thank you Miss Hanis.

What I learnt here is we must think critically. Our weakness (personally) I think most of us take the question literally. As it mention the inaccuracy repetitively, so we tend to put inaccuracy with the negative consequences. That is why without thinking further we thought that the question asked about the negative effects. This is the tricky for us to see how we understand something. People that learnt Psychology for sure should have different view than other people because we try to understand everyone. Then this question is one of the examples where Psychologist should think differently from other where inaccuracy is not always wrong but it sometime can give benefits to us.

I believe this our turning point to be better and become more serious for the next test. We should learn Psychology from the heart as psychology and human being could not be separated. Although we have different major like Political Science and International Relations, I believe that Social Psychology is a fundamental thing that require in order for us to understand the world. Mid term result give a new spirit to us to perform well in the future because we learn form the mistakes.
